Bus excursion to the most picturesque corners of Lviv, the Carpathian mountains, and Skole Beskids National Park. (8 hours) The first stop will be a rock monastery witch was build in the 13-14 century. This area has been inhabited since ancient times. This rocky area was used for ancient rituals and for Christians. This monastery is situated on a hill and tucked away in the woods from the watchful eye of the potential enemies. Apparently this site also served as a powerful fortress. Next we are going to National Natural Park Skole Beskids. We will visit the famous waterfall on the river Kamenka (7 m height) and walk to the Dead Lake, which is located in a very picturesque place a bit higher from the waterfall location. The nest stop is a fortress Tustan. It is an architectural monument of the 9th and 13th centuries. It used to be a favorite spot for vacation of Ivan Franko, the famous Ukrainian poet. Initially, these mountains were used as a pagan temple. Later there was the Old barrier in that location where the route for exporting salt went through. The customs that was there gave the name to the castle which means "Stand here" - Stop and pay taxes. Unfortunately, since the castle was wooden, it didn’t preserve to our times. However, thanks to the available historical documents that reveal the appearance of this fortress, it hopefully will be renovated in the near future. While walking along the rocks you will see how the once mighty and impregnable fortress Tustan reproduces the medieval atmosphere of the period of Kievan Rus' and Galicia-Volyn principality. You'll also admire the Carpathian landscapes and a unique rock complex, which is about 55 million years old.


The combination of the bus and walking tour will allow you to see the fortifications of the Lviv region (castles and monasteries).The Olesko Castle is a unique monument of medieval architecture,and the first castle-museum in Ukraine. The childhood home of Ukrainian Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky. The tour continues with the trip to Pidgoretskiy castle, which is deservedly recognized as one of the most beautiful in Europe. This castle was filmed as Versailles in Soviet film "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers." Also, it is famous for its castle ghosts. If you are lucky, you will see one them during our tour in the castle cellars. Moreover, you'll see the medieval alchemists lab, which belonged to Severin Zhevusky, who was one of the owners of the castle. We will also visit the ancient Monastery of the Annunciation, which according to one of the numerous historical versions was established by Princess Elena in the 12th century. Along Beats Fontanelle flows miraculous water, which is thought to cure many diseases. In the monastery still remains the miraculous icon of the Mother of God Podgoretsky.Next one is Zolochiv castle. Next to the castle is a strange stone with Gothic letters. There are many theories of their origin. One of them - they were made by Knights of Templar, and nearby was their castle. Near the castle is situated a wonderful medieval style restaurant where one can taste some wonderful traditional dishes.


On request, you can visit Lviv underground. Now you will know underground mysteries of this ancient town. It's interesting to find out that the length of underground passages in Lviv is more than 100 km. The longest and the most famous underground channel of Lviv is the manifold of the Poltva River. It doesn't matter how many times the people of Lviv complained about it's bad smell, because The Poltva River has saved people's lives for so many times. We’ll also visit the cellars of the houses on the Market Square. They used to serve as the storehouses for different goods and wine long time ago. Nowadays there are many popular coffee shops located there. There are also underground passages, which were used to get from one part of the city to another.The cellars of the monasteries were used by the monks or served as prisons. During this tour you will visit the most famous cellars, which are situated under the Jesuit Cathedral. The remnants of the house of the 14th century were dug here. The tour guide will tell you the story about the monk who sold his soul to the devil, and another story about the archbishop whose body disappeared from the tomb. You will also see the underground gallery of Lviv lions. Than we go to the cellars of the Pharmacy Museum. They were used for keeping wine. On our way we’ll visit the alchemical laboratory. It is not situated under the ground but definitely has some mystical spirit. The next stop of our tour are the oldest cellars of Lviv, which are situated under the former Dominican monastery. They date back to 13th century. In that time there was a palace of King Leo here. You will hear the sad story about three marriages of Galshka Ostrozka, about Princess Constanse - the wife of King Leo, and many interesting stories about Dominican Order in Lviv.


Bus excursion from Lviv to Zhovkva and Krehiv monasteryZhovkva was a favorite private town and residence of famous polish king Jan III Sobesky – winner of Turkish troops under Wiena in 1683. Some historians reckon Zhovkva was a birthplace of the most famous Ukrainian cossack hetman Bogdan Khmel’nyts’kyj. Zhovkva was built according to a principle of an ideal town of Renaissance period, where perfect architecture, organization of social life and reliable defensive fortifications were harmonically combined. When you come to the central town square, you’ll have a feeling that time stopped here in the end of 16 – beginning 17 centuries because of the absence of considerable architectural changes of medieval houses that survived till today. Moreover, grandeur of its architecture is naturally inserted in surrounding landscape of unbelievable beauty, because Zhovkva is located near foothills of covered by forests Roztochans’ky hills. Not only medieval quarters and houses has been saved in the town but also Zhovkva castle (1594-1606), medieval casemates, “falling” bell/town tower, church of St. Laurence (“Little Vavel’”), Dominican church and monastery behind fortified walls, the biggest in Europe in 17 century Renaissance synagogue, wooden church of The Christmas, the church and convent of Christmas of the Basilians have survived through ages. Next place of visit is medieval Krehiv monastery. It is a great fortified complex with high walls, towers and deep ditch for defense. The nature around is so beautiful and the air so clean, that no one stays indifferent.


As Lviv is the restaurant capital of Ukraine, you will have a chance to visit the most popular Ukrainian restaurants ( "Kryjivka”, "Gas lamp”, "Masoch-Cafe”, Galician Jewish restaurant "At the Golden Rose” etc.) and taste specialty dishes. "Gas Lamp" is the highest (4-floor) Lviv pub, where you will get to know everything about inventors of the first kerosene lamp in the world. "Masoch-cafe" is a window into the world, created on the works of "father of masochism", Leopold von Sacher-Masoch who was born in Lviv."Kryjivka" is the most popular restaurant in Ukraine (Ukrainian Insurgent Army and Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists style). The history of anticommunist resistance, training in a rebel shooting range is shown in the style of the restaurant. Medovukha (honey infused liquor) tastings here. Besides, you will have an opportunity to visit two more restaurants:"The Most Expensive Galician Restaurant" where you’ll hear the story about the world of "free masons", its secret symbols and sings."House of Legends" is a restaurant, where every room is dedicated to a separate legend about Lviv.
